“A Tantrum is not a Plan”
This morning I had breakfast with Michelle Bridges; she of 12 Week Body Transformation Fame. Well, like previous breakfast engagements with Sir Bob and Brene Brown, me and a few hundred other Business Chicks.
And these were my takeaways (not of the food variety of course! That wouldn’t work too well!)…
Mish’s Three Steps to Success
- Know what you want (really want)
- Make a plan to get it
- TURN UP and make it happen (also known as “Just Friggin Do It”)
Michelle says we either don’t know what we want (really want) or we spend too much time making pretty (colour coded) plans, that we forget we actually need to do it. To turn up and do it.
That you are going to need to believe in yourself – because there will be hard times, downtimes, times that you are distracted, times where (plenty) of people tell you can’t do it.
That rather than asking “what’s in it for me” – rather ask “who can I be” for my community, my family, my friends and myself. That this is the difference between looking through a microscope and a telescope.
That your future will continue to be copy, cut and paste of your past unless you DO something differently. Starting today. Chose to do it before you don’t have a choice anymore.
That you will need to recognise your excuses for the self sabatoaging excuses that they are and get over them. If the PM of Australia can find the time to exercise (or whatever it is that you are “too busy” for), then you probably have the time too.
The Three Cs of Success
And finally, the three Cs of Success:
- Consistency
- Consistency
- Consistency
Notice – she doesn’t talk about perfection. About lofty goals. About transformation. Just turning up day after day after day, consistently plugging away to answer your question :
“What do I want” (REALLY WANT)
She advocates to go forth TODAY and take some action to make it happen. That the mere act of some form of movement forward creates miracles in terms of the next steps presenting themselves.
What do you think? Could you JFDI some aspect of your life? TODAY? Now?
