Wrap up for October

Can we just take a moment to wonder how the hell we are in October and starting to make Christmas plans? In my head I am still in February – so this is crazy stuff! What a year.

What’s making the news work wise this month

  • Two key themes continue for this month:
    • The somewhat vexed issue of mandatory vaccinations, and how employers manage that for both their employees and their customers/suppliers etc. How have you found it at your workplace? Drop me an email and let me know.
    • Hybrid working – how will it work, how can it work? Does it work? Still so many questions.. There’s new research to show that most employers think that working in the office will be three days per week, and that it will be Tuesday to Thursday. A long long weekend every weekend?

Food for thought – has HR ever been more critical to an organisation?

2021 – the most stressful year ever? What can HR do to help employees who are stuck and stagnant?

Get your medical certificates online.. Without seeing a doctor? It’s a new, and somewhat worrying trend for employers.

What I am reading in September/October:

I have to confess that there hasn’t been much new reading happening over the last few months. But I have gone back to re-read some of my old brain books. I have a pile of these, and periodically revisit them, as it’s fascinating to understand more about the brain, and to see how much we don’t know about the whys and wherefores of the brain.

I am in the middle of re-reading The Secret Life of the Teenage Brain. Here’s a good overview on the book from Sarah-Jayne Blakemore on youtube.

new leadership programme

My colleague, Jaine Edge and I are collaborating once again to bring you a new leadership programme:

Moving into Management – a six month programme.

Our first cohort filled up in less than 48 hours. We are now taking enrolments for our third cohort.

This programme is all that you hope a leadership programme would be:

  • face to face modules, supported by online learning to enhance the pre and post work of each module;
  • leading edge, up to date organisational, psych and behavioural theories with a practical application back in the workplace;
  • a toolbox of skills to practise and implement;
  • connections and collaborations with fellow participants during the programme and beyond;
  • engaging facilitators and guest speakers

Talk to us about an in house programme for your organisation or about joining Cohort 3 in 2022.
