Got a hard decision to make?
We have all been there- where you have a decision to make and just don’t know what to do.
Sometimes it’s a matter of ‘knowing’ what to do but not wanting to do it, but often the decision is a complex one and it isn’t clear what the right direction is.
Different ways to look at the decision
Having different lenses to look through can be useful. Even better if you have a trusted friend or coach to go through this process with.
In going through this exact process recently, a friend suggested these questions:
- What will happen if I do?
- What will happen if I don’t?
- What won’t happen if I do?
- What wont happen if I don’t?
They are simple questions, but help to perhaps provide the one missing piece that brings clarity. (Even better, you don’t need to go through the 4872 factors suggested above).
Don’t just read this
If you have a decision you have been grappling with, don’t just read this and nod along. Go to your diary now, pop 15 minutes uninterrupted time in your calendar. Then, take a notebook, the questions and sit and ponder through the questions.
Does it make a difference? Do you see something that you didn’t before?
Until next week, happy leading.
